APACHE SUNRISE CEREMONY … A COMING OF AGE DANCE FOR APACHE WOMEN
The APACHE SunRise Ceremony is in high gear this time of the year with ceremonies being held every weekend (sometimes two or three dances) on both the White Mountain Apache Reservation in Whiteriver Arizona and the San Carlos Apache Reservation near San Carlos, Arizona and will continue into September.The ceremony celebrates the APACHE maiden coming of age and empowers to take the role dictated to her from the tribe. The APACHE family is run by mom and when a couple marry they traditionalLy move into the womens family home.
